Southwestern Public Health on Tuesday afternoon (March 25) reported two more measles exposures in St. Thomas.
They took place in the Emergency Department at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on March 17 from 6:47 a.m. to 10:16 a.m. and again March 19 between 7:40 a.m. and 11:40 a.m.
If you were in the department at either of these times, were born in 1970 or later, and are not up to date with your vaccinations, please call public health at 1-800-922-0096. This includes those who were only present briefly as measles is highly contagious and can linger in the air for up to two hours.
Find out what actions to take if you were exposed to measles on the SWPH website at http://www.swpublichealth.ca/my-health/infectious-diseases/measles/
You can also view a list of all known recent measles exposure locations and timelines, vaccination guidance, and a Measles Exposure Risk Assessment tool to understand if you are at-risk from a measles exposure.
