Graduation is a major milestone worth celebrating, and the YWCA St. Thomas-Elgin is making sure every student can look and feel their best — without the financial stress.
Their annual Get Gorgeous for Grad program returns this spring, offering outfits and accessories to students in St. Thomas and Elgin County who are graduating from Grade 8 or high school.
Melissa Kempf, Communications Manager with YWCA explains further.
Boutique Days will run April 28 to May 3, where students will get to browse through a selection of nearly 400 dresses, suits, and more with help from the YWCA staff and volunteers.
“It’s such a needed program” notes Kempf, with spaces filling up each year. Over 50 students participated in 2024 alone, with numbers expected to grow.
To meet the growing demand, especially for smaller and plus sizes, the YWCA is accepting donations through March.
They’re looking for modern dresses, suits, shoes, accessories and even gift cards- to assist students who may not be able to find something that works.
In addition, the YWCA is reaching out to local businesses who may be able to support in their own way.
Donations can be dropped off at the YWCA’s main office at 16 Mary Street West, with tax receipts available.
Registration for Boutique Days are now open, with roughly 57 spots available.
