A 57-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing multiple charges after police recovered a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning.
Officers on patrol spotted the black Chevrolet Cruze around 4 a.m. and conducted what St. Thomas police describe as a “high-risk takedown.”
The vehicle, reported stolen on March 11th, had been loaned to an acquaintance in December, but not returned following the request.
The driver was found operating the vehicle while impaired and was arrested without incident. Breath tests did revealed a blood alcohol concentration three times the legal limit.
Police also discovered a prohibited flick knife during their investigation.
As a result, the accused has been charged with:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol or Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Plus 80
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
The vehicle owner was notified, and the accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
