While Canada Post resumed operations as of Tuesday morning, mail delivery is not expected to return to normal until well into January.
Raising concerns for community organizations like the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners which relies heavily on the the mail in its fundraising efforts in support of their programs and services.
Director of Development Leslie Rand tells myFM alternatives are available for those wishing to donate before the end of the year.
That includes their secure website.
Payments can also be made at their St. Thomas office.
The St. Thomas location is Suite 229 in the County of Elgin Administration Building at 450 Sunset Drive.
Rand stresses this is a critical time of year for fundraising to support their efforts in St. Thomas/Elgin along with Oxford and Middlesex counties.
And, the money raised remains here.
She points out the local agency is seeing more than 200 new referrals every month and provincial funding is just not keeping pace.
Rand adds recruiting is also underway to fill a variety of essential volunteer positions with he Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.
