Christmas came early for staff at the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, who learned last week just how much was raised through the 2nd annual Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.
Thanks to the support of residents of St. Thomas and the 7 Tim Hortons restaurants who collected for the cause, $40,100 will benefit our local food bank just when they need it most.
While speaking with Karen McDade, Manager of Public Relations and Administration at the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank, she shared details of the record breaking numbers they’ve been experiencing.
Adding that the number of daily visitors just continues to increase.
McDade notes that monetary funds such as this are vital for the operation of the food bank and will be used to order skid loads of food. This will allow staff to purchase the products they are lacking, ensuring the shelves stay stocked with essentials.
Funds raised during the 2nd annual Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie campaign more than doubled the $15,196 that was raised in the inaugural year.
