It’s National Legion Week across Canada, designed to educate residents on the good work their local Branches do in their community.
In St. Thomas, the week was marked with a flag raising and proclamation ceremony Monday morning, with members of Royal Canadian Legion Lord Elgin Branch 41 on hand.
One of those members was Adrian Williams, who explains what Legion Weeks means to those locally.
It kicks off annually on the third Sunday of September, in honour of the Battle of Britain Day and wraps up Saturday the 21st.
Williams explains what they have planned in St. Thomas.
The St. Thomas Police Pipes & Drums will also help celebrate with a special performance at the Legion at 6:30 tonight (Sept 16).
Williams adds that National Legion Week serves as a vehicle to drive new traffic to Branches, attract new members and sign up new volunteers. Those who are interested in joining locally are encouraged to do so!
