There could be trouble on the horizon for Air Canada passengers, as a strike notice or lockout could happen as early as this Sunday.
The contract talks with pilots are nearing a gridlock over what the company says are the union’s wage demands.
Air Canada says it’s growing more likely that its operations will begin shutting down as early as this weekend if a contract agreement isn’t reached with its pilots’ union.
As possible travel disruption looms, the airline says customers with bookings between September 15th and 23rd can make changes at no cost, or receive a travel credit.
It says the policy will be expanded as warranted, but notes customers won’t be eligible for extra compensation.
The union representing 52-hundred pilots at Air Canada is pushing to see salaries get closer to what pilots in the U-S have negotiated.
The airline is calling the wage demands “excessive.”
