The Thames Valley District School Board announced Monday that Director of Education Mark Fisher is on a leave of absence.
The Board of Trustees met yesterday to appoint an Acting Director of Education, however no announcement has been made.
The board will conduct a broader search for an interim Director of Education.
No reason was given for the leave of absence. This follows the revelation 18 senior executives spent two nights at the Marriott Hotel at the Rogers Centre in Toronto for what was described as strategic planning sessions.
A brief media release advised, “Day-to-day school board operations will continue as planned and this will not impact the incredible teaching and learning taking place in Thames Valley classrooms.”
Board chair Beth Mai added, “The Board is committed to ensuring that staff, students and families are supported during this time and we thank them for their patience.”
