As a strike at Ontario’s main liquor retailer drags on, Premier Doug Ford says he won’t budge on one of the main sticking points in contract talks.
Ford says the ship has sailed on the province’s plans to have ready-to-drink cocktails sold at convenience and grocery stores across Ontario.
The union representing workers at the Liquor Control Board of Ontario say Ford’s alcohol expansion plan, not wages, is the big issue in their strike.
Grocery stores that already sell beer and wine will be able to sell ready-to-drink cocktails starting next month, while convenience stores can start selling beer, wine, cider and ready-to-drink cocktails in September.
