As a way to highlight the importance of the week and the work they do locally, the Salvation St. Thomas Church and Community Ministries will be hosting a community event on Friday as part of Emergency Preparedness Week.
Running from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the special event will give attendees the chance to learn how to better prepare of an emergency, participate in tours of emergency response vehicles and take part in a complementary BBQ.
They’ll also have free carnival games, bouncy castles, face painting and more for the whole family.
The Salvation Army’s Community Response Unit will be on hand, as well as vehicles from the St. Thomas Police, St. Thomas Fire Department and other community partners.
The event will take place in the parking lot of the Salvation Army Church at 380 Elm Street.
