Parkside’s Robotics team is preparing for 2024 season build.
With only three` months to create a robot, the ThunderStamps are dividing and conquering to come out on top in next year’s competitions.
Some roles the students take on include the builders – they design and build the robot; the programmers – they code the robot; the scouters – they track information during competitions; the drivers – they drive, operate, coach and control the robot during competitions, and the technicians – they get the robot to matches on time and in the best condition possible.
Through the build season these hard-working students spend up to 12 hours a week, brainstorming new ideas and perfecting the Parkside robot.
They also get the opportunity to work alongside mentors from Etbo Tool and Die of Aylmer to enhance their knowledge and skills.
In April of this year, the team competed at the four-day FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston, Texas.
At the time, they were ranked 4th out of 123 teams in Ontario, 4th out of 183 in Canada, and 44th out of 3294 teams worldwide.
