A happy ending to a scary situation in Southwold Thursday morning.
Elgin OPP were contacted around 6:40 a.m. about a missing 5-year-old who had left their residence sometime overnight without their parents’ knowledge.
Members of the OPP responded to the James Street address and called in the assistance of their Aviation Services, the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Victim Services Elgin, and the St. Thomas Police Service.
At approximately 7:15 a.m., the missing child was located by a member of the public roughly one kilometer away in the area of Edgewell Crescent.
The child was assessed and found to be in good health, at which time they were returned to their family by Elgin County OPP.
