These past few weeks have been so eventful with so many fun things to do, keeping all of our Stamps entertained and excited for more. Now let’s take a look at a few things that have been happening!
Sports
United in Sports Week, a showcase of how sports unite and promote a sense of community. To celebrate, Parkside hosted four buyout games and two under the lights football games.
On October 17th, the junior and senior boys volleyball teams played St Mary’s Catholic High School. Both teams brought an amazing crowd, the cheers were loud and the energy was high.
Just two days after, on October 19th, it was time for junior and senior girls basketball. Both teams played College Avenue Secondary School, the atmosphere was electric and cheers echoed throughout the gym, fueling the players to fight hard from beginning to end.
Finally, to wrap up United In Sports Week, Parkside’s junior and senior football teams took on St. Andre Bessette under the lights on October 20th.
All of these games not only brought the school together but also raised $3,200 for United Way!
Spirit
Halloween at Parkside is something you don’t want to miss! The annual pumpkin bowl consists of awesome costume contests, games, an intense student vs. teacher dodgeball game, and lots of spirit!
This year, loads of students and teachers dressed up, with the following costume contest winners: a Napoleon French soldier won student solo costume, two plague doctors won the duo student costume, many dressed as the movie characters in Men In Black won student group costume, Mr. Clean won the teacher solo costume, and Ted Lasso characters won the teacher group costume.
Then the student vs. teacher dodgeball game began. With intense energy both teams played their best, with the teachers winning once again continuing their undefeated streak. The losing student team, accepting defeat, then had to drink the mix of juices held in a real pumpkin, all with smiles on their faces.
For the first time since the beginning of COVID, Parkside also held a Halloween dance, including a haunted house and a DJ. The haunted house had live actors from the Grade 12 Leadership classes scaring every individual that walked through, giving them all of the TRICKS and none of the TREATS.
Another successful Halloween in the Parkside record books, until next year.
Conclusion
The athletics, the spirit, the atmosphere, and the people all make Parkside the place to be.
