It was no easy decision for current owners Andy and Peter Lerikos, but after 25 years in business, a fresh set of faces will soon take over the helm at Legends Tavern.
While no official announcement was made, news about the change in ownership broke late last month when Andy Lerikos informed his staff of the sale.
He notes that stepping away from his team and the restaurant after a 1/4 century will be very difficult, but Legends will be in great hands.
And as of July 12th, business partners Kevin McIntyre and Matt Lee, along with new Operations Manager Shelby Pyka will take the reigns of the local sports bar.
Despite wanting to wait a few more years to make this move, Lerikos says the timing just worked out.
The three new faces you can expect to see around Legends Tavern may not be new to everyone in the Railway City, as McIntyre, Lee and Pyka all grew up in the area.
McIntyre who went to school in St. Thomas and grew up just outside the city on a hobby farm in Mapleton, notes that this opportunity is a dream come true.
Having spent the majority of his life working in and owning businesses in the restaurant industry, McIntyre is excited to welcome more members to their work family.
McIntyre’s long time employee Shelby Pyka, who started out as a hostess back in 2011, will take over the day to day operations of Legends when the change is finalized. She notes how excited she is to be back in the area.
She adds that while Andy and Peter are leaving some big shoes to fill, she’s ready for this next step.
With so much change coming in terms of owners and leadership, Matt Lee just wants to ensure the Legends loyal customer base that everything else will still be the same.
Lee, who also grew up just down the street in the Town of Aylmer adds that the legacy of Legends Tavern will continue.
And as far as what’s next for Andy after July 11th, some much needed quality time with friends and family will be up first!
Those looking to congratulate and share their well wishes with Andy and Peter Lerikos can stop into Legends before July 12th.
