
Tomorrow is our country’s 156th birthday and plenty of events have been planned across St. Thomas-Elgin to celebrate!
The Township of Southwold will kick things off tonight with their annual Canada Day celebration taking place at the Fingal Baseball Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Attendees can take in the music by A&M Sounds, visit Dotsy the Clown, get your face painted and celebrate Canada’s birthday with some cake before fireworks.
A change in venue for St. Thomas’ annual Canada Day celebration has some residents questioning the decision. myFM spoke with Mayor Joe Preston who explained the move to 1Password Park.
The fun kicks off around 4 p.m. on Canada Day, with a petting zoo, free inflatables and games, musical entertainment and more, before the Kinsmen fireworks display at dusk.
The Municipality of Dutton-Dunwich have an all-day event planned for Sons of Scotland Park , with the Fire Department Breakfast at 8 a.m. and a packed line up of activities before the fireworks display at dusk.
In Port Burwell, the Canada Day Parade kicks off at the Royal Canadian Legion beginning at 11:30 a.m. A free BBQ with cake will be available at the Port Burwell gazebo, with a Harvard formation flyover taking place at 12:30 p.m.
Belmont residents will make their way to Don Yeck Park following the annual Decorated Bicycle Parade taking place at 11:30 a.m. From noon until 2 p.m., a $2 hot dog lunch, cake and face painting will be available at the pavilion. Fireworks at dusk!
Canada Day celebrations in West Elgin will take place at Miller Park in West Lorne. Opening ceremonies get underway at 3 p.m. at the Pavilion, with a number of family friendly activities running until 8 p.m. Live entertainment by Easy Mark Band will keep the crowd entertained before the fireworks show at dusk.
After a scaled back celebration last year, the annual Canada Day festivities return to Aylmer’s East Elgin Community Complex. Stop by for some live entertainment, food vendors, inflatables, facing painting, a photo booth and more set up between 5 to 9 p.m., before fireworks lights up the sky around 10.
