Another charge against Church of God Pastor Henry Hildebrandt has been withdrawn.
It was alleged the Aylmer pastor attended a Chatham anti-lockdown protest in April of 2021.
At the time, the province had limited attendance at outdoor gatherings.
About 200 attended the protest where it was alleged Hildebrandt not only was present, but spoke to the crowd.
A police officer watched a portion of the event on an internet livestream and the Crown could not produce the video evidence.
As such, the Crown withdrew the charge on the ground that there was no reasonable chance of conviction.
Christopher Fleury, counsel for Pastor Hildebrandt, stated that: “While it is unfortunate that it took two years to get to this point, this is an excellent outcome for Pastor Hildebrandt. My client and I are very pleased the prosecution finally made a realistic assessment of the strength of its case.”
In February of this year, charges against Pastor Hildebrandt, his son Herbert Hildebrandt, and his wife Martha Hildebrandt were withdrawn after the three attended an April, 2021 “No More Lockdowns” rally in Brantford.
