Charles Sullivan, managing director Boeing Canada was in London last week exploring the possibility of new opportunities and partnerships.
St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston was part of the opportunity to present a sales pitch to Boeing on the economic attractiveness of SW Ontario as a region.
The meeting brought together area mayors along with business and academic representatives as the aerospace giant looks to strengthen ties with SW Ontario.
Preston says it’s a golden opportunity for suppliers in the region who could benefit in more ways than one.
Preston is upbeat about the aerospace giant’s presence in SW Ontario.
And he feels St. Thomas is right in the heart of any potential economic action.
Preston advised the Boeing team was supplied with about 30 names of firms in the region that should be approached.
Boeing has a dozen locations across the country supporting its commercial and defence industries.
It employs approximately 1,500 people and supplies composite parts for all current Boeing commercial airplane models, in addition to supporting Canadian airlines and the Canadian Armed Forces with products and services.
