After running as the Green Party candidate for Elgin-Middlesex-London in the 2021 federal election, Amanda Stark says it was an easy decision to represent the party in the June 2 provincial vote.
The Dorchester-area native told myFM she knows and cares about the local issues and the Green Party is ready to bring forth new solutions to old problems.
She lives in St. Thomas with her husband and recently finished the marketing management program at Fanshawe College.
She stresses she has her finger on the pulse of almost all of Elgin-Middlesex-London riding and connecting with fellow residents in the riding is what motivated her to enter provincial politics .
Stark likes to take a grassroots approach when out campaigning.
Stark adds she is hearing from constituents who say the time has come for political change.
What is needed, she stresses, are changes to the political system itself.
She is an advocate for the ranked ballot voting system instead of the present first-past-the-post method of tabulation.
And the time has come, she stresses, to stop talking about what needs to be done to improve our healthcare system and start acting upon needed improvements.
The time has come for new solutions to Ontario’s old problems, advises Stark. The Ontario Green Party will tackle the housing crisis, address climate change, and improve the healthcare system.
In her pitch to voters, Stark points out the Green Party wants to create a people-powered government that truly cares for the people it serves while protecting the province we all call home.
