Ontario’s top doctor says the province’s COVID-19 indicators are heading in the right direction ahead of what he says looks to be a “calm summer.”
Dr. Kieran Moore says that could potentially be followed by another round of vaccination for residents at high risk in the fall.
Moore says COVID-19 levels in wastewater are declining, as are the test positivity rate and the number of people hospitalized due to the virus.
But he say he’s already preparing for the fall, when more activities start to take place indoors, where the risk of transmission is higher.
Moore says keeping up-to-date with vaccinations is key in stopping the spread, whether virus activity is high or low, and is encouraging people to get booster doses because immunity wanes four to six months after the last dose.
