Figures released indicate St. Thomas is experiencing a substantial growth spurt.
The 2021 Stats Canada census figures indicate the city’s population is now 42,840, a 10.1% increase over the 2016 enumerated figure.
St. Thomas now ranks 52nd in the province in population.
At the other end of the spectrum, the Municipality of Bayham saw its population shrink by 4.1 per cent since 2016 to 7,096.
In other information from the census, in 2021 there were 18,062 private dwellings occupied in the city, that’s up 8.9% from 2016.
