After an extended dark stage, Port Stanley Festival Theatre is preparing to raise the curtain once again this month. And, that’s no laughing matter. Well actually it is because the opening production is a three-week run of Legal Alien, a family friendly comedy opening Aug. 17. Artistic director Simon Joynes notes, however, things won’t quite be back to normal just yet.
Success at the box office in recent years has allowed the Port Stanley Festival Theatre to weather the pandemic in reasonably good shape through it’s rainy day fund. Nevertheless, Joynes says being able to return with a compact season this month is good news for the theatre and the community at large.
More than theatre-goers are thrilled the curtain will soon go up again on the stage of the Port Stanley Festival Theatre. As Joynes explains, the theatre is a significant economic driver in the Lake Erie village.
The shortened season runs through October with another comedy, The Fixer Upper opening Sept. 8 followed by the musical revue, The Crooner Show, on Oct. 12.
Due to COVID-19 safety protocols that will be in place, seating is limited. Tickets are available at the PSFT box office or by calling 519-782-4353.
