Today 94.1 myFM and Fanshawe College St. Thomas Elgin Regional Campus are shining a light on some of the amazing teachers we have in our community with our Excellent Educators Day.
For Kristin Ambrose, Grade 8 teacher at Davenport Public School in Aylmer, it wasn’t always obvious where she would end up career wise.
In fact it wasn’t until late in her grade 12 year that a push from her educators at Central Elgin Collegiate Institute led her to where she is today.
Beginning her teaching career in 2015 as a substitute, Ambrose has since landed a full time gig at Davenport where she has spent 2 years teaching grade 7 and now grade 8.
With just over 5 years of teaching under her belt, Ambrose had this to say about what she gets out of the experience.
Like many teachers across the province, the sudden shift to online learning after march break last year wasn’t Ambrose’s ideal situation, making it one of the most challenging aspects of her career so far.
But like most educators try to bestow, it’s important to always keep learning.
As far as advice for any students thinking about becoming a teacher themselves, Ambrose says it’s going to be a lot of work but it will be so worth it and rewarding in the end.
