While area students will not be returning to in-class learning until at least Feb. 10, our medical officer of health says that is the preferred model for instruction during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with case counts still high, Dr. Joyce Lock stresses virtual learning is the safer way to go.
Our case numbers are coming down, adds Dr. Lock, however they are not under control and remain higher than last summer.
Dr. Lock stresses the province has taken a regional approach in returning students to the classroom and with numbers trending lower in the Southwestern Public Health region over the past week there is reason to be “cautiously optimistic.” The numbers are not as positive in the Middlesex-London Health unit coverage area and that has to be factored in as well, noted Dr. Lock.
