
Ontario reported 1,873 new cases of COVID-19 today (Saturday), while Southwestern Public Health is advising of 12 new cases, including three in Bayham with one new case each in St. Thomas, Aylmer and Southwold. One death was reported bringing the total to nine since the pandemic began. Sixteen cases were resolved.
There are 103 confirmed ongoing cases in the health unit’s coverage area, with 22 in St. Thomas, 16 in Aylmer, 13 in Woodstock and Norwich, 11 in Bayham, nine in Tillsonburg, five in Blandford-Blenheim, four in Zorra and East Zorra-Tavistock, three in Ingersoll, with single cases in Central Elgin, West Elgin and Southwold.
Currently three people are hospitalized with two of those individuals in the ICU.
Two staff members at Bethany Care Home in Norwich have tested positve, as have one staff member at Terrace Lodge in Aylmer and Maple Manor in Tillsonburg.
Seventy-five of the cases are individuals under the age of 50, of those 32 are under the age of 20.
The number of resolved cases is 609.
There are 48.7 ongoing confirmed cases per 100,000 population in the SWPH region as compared to 62.3 per 100,000 in the Middlesex-London Health Unit region.
The assessment centre at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital undertook 451 tests on Thursday.
