For local business owner Shawn DeVree, giving back to the community is a no brainer and that’s why she is one of our myFM Community Builders. DeVree is the owner of 2 downtown business, Myrtle and Given Shop and has used them as an avenue to give back to the city of St. Thomas.
From helping organize the 100 Women Who Care Elgin event that is set to take place in November to holding a Tampon Tuesday drive out of both her stores and offering deals to those who participate, the list goes on.
DeVree says she chooses to support the community she lives in because they support her.
DeVree says that any initiative that they put on is always very well received because St. Thomas is all about supporting one another.
When DeVree was asked what her biggest accomplishment is she admits that owning a retail store in the city for over a decade is definitely one but she is mostly proud of the community of people that she has built around her that continue to support her day in and day out.
