Today myFM is celebrating local coaches and the impact they’ve had on athletes in Elgin County with our Hooray for Coaches Day feature, presented by Briwood Farm Market.
We spoke with Jeff Carmichael who has been coaching hockey since he was 18 years old. Now over 25 years later he is continuing to do what he loves by coaching Midget boys’ hockey out of West Lorne.
Carmichael says that after all these years he still continues to do it for the pure enjoyment that he gets out of it.
Carmichael adds that the biggest highlight for him during his coaching career is seeing the kids he coached still playing as adults.
With over 25 years of experience coaching youth sports, Carmichael says having good organizations and helpers are what makes teams successful in his opinion.
