A public meeting tonight will allow Central Elgin residents to hear from a consulting group on their recommendations for the ward boundary review process. The firm is conducting the review after a group of Port Stanley residents petitioned council to review the ward boundaries.
The public meeting is taking place at New Sarum Elementary School from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. where residents will hear and see the consultants recommendations on proposed new ward boundaries.
Central Elgin Mayor Sally Martyn says that council and staff have no involvement in the review process.
Martyn says that the current 5 wards each have one council represent them, with the mayor and deputy mayor representing all wards.
The review process is expected to be completed in the Spring of 2020 with the potential new wards used to elect councillors in the 2022 municipal election.
An online survey with the recommendations is also available online.
