The Port Stanley Christmas Lights home on Shelbourne Drive will not be putting up their full display this year due to health concerns. Homeowner Dennis Taylor came down with the flu which progressed to pneumonia a week before he needed to begin to set up the more than 81,000 light display in both the front and backyard of he and his wife Raymie Jewell’s home.
Taylor is just beginning to overcome the pneumonia and as a result will not have enough time to set up the 600 hours that it takes to put up the backyard display but will still be decorating the front and sides of the home set to music.
Taylor says that he waited until the very last minute to make the difficult decision.
Taylor says that they will still be accepting donations to the Make A Wish Foundation and the Port Stanley Food Bank though they know they will likely not raise as much as they usually do.
The front and side display is planned to be up on November 30th and remain up until December 31st. Taylor is planning to return to the full display next season.
