Another movie is being filmed this week at the former St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital. Film crews for the Indigenous film entitled, “Night Raiders” will be taking over the grounds from October 7th to 11th. The movie being filmed is set in the future of post-war North America, where a military occupation controls disenfranchised cities. In this near future world, children are property of the State and a desperate Cree woman joins an underground band of vigilantes to infiltrate a State children’s academy and get her daughter back.
The old Psychiatric Hospital will act as a dormitory style building for a military school for girls in the film. myFM spoke with casting agent Shannyn, who says a lot of local talent was cast as background performers for the film. Shannyn says that many of the girls at the military school as well as guards are being played by people from the area.
Filming for the movie will also be taking place in other locations throughout Southwestern Ontario for the next 2-3 months.
The movie is written and directed by award winning Canadian filmmaker Danis Goulet.
