A telephone pole has been struck at Wellington Street and Moore Street which will result in power outages for approximately 4 hours. Due to the damage sustained to the pole, it is teetering and the structural integrity is in question. Police are reporting that the pole is in danger of falling. The area has been deemed unsafe by police who now have the area taped off.
Entegrus Powerlines has advised their clients that there will be an outage in the Jonas, Lydia, Barnes, Moore, Amelia, Ross and Wellington Street areas for approximately 4 hours while the pole is replaced.
Wellington Street is closed from Ross Street to Princess Ave until further notice. You are being asked to keep away from the area until crews are able to deal with the issue. Stay tuned to myFM for updates on the situation as they become available.
