A CBS film that was filmed just outside of St. Thomas featuring local residents is opening Friday. The film “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” is based on the series of children’s short horror stories from the 1980s – 90s.
Academy Award winning director Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water) is one of the producers and one of the writers of the screen story for the film.
The film centres around a group of teenagers that discover a book of scary tales that become all too real for them.
myFM first informed you last summer that the film was shooting at the former St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital and that local residents were being cast as background extras. An aerial shot of the former hospital can be seen in one of the trailers. The film is being shown at Galaxy Cinemas in St. Thomas with the first showing happening at 12:15 p.m.
