Emergency crews were called just before 3 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported a fire at a residential home. Everyone inside was able to escape safely, a result the St. Thomas Fire Department credits to working smoke alarms.
Firefighters were able to knock down the flames shortly after arrival, however a family dog did perished in the fire.
