SWPH measles case count approaches 300 as an “equal opportunity” virus

On Wednesday morning, Southwestern Public Health held a measles outbreak update, with Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ninh Tran indicating the case count is now approaching 300.

Since the outbreak began last October, there have been close to 30 hospitalizations.

Dr. Tran noted that personal risk is specifically tied to vaccination history and exposure.

He stressed measles is an “equal opportunity” virus for the unvaccinated.
