The Kettle Creek Conservation Authority (KCCA) is urging residents to exercise caution near local creeks and streams as heavy rainfall brings the risk of flooding to the region.
Environment Canada is tracking a Colorado low-pressure system set to arrive late Wednesday morning, potentially bringing 40-60mm of rain and mixed precipitation before tapering off early Thursday.
With the anticipated rainfall, elevated water levels, localized flooding, and ponding in low-lying areas are expected. “Spring weather can be unpredictable, and conditions can change quickly,” warned Jennifer Dow, Water Resources Supervisor for KCCA.
KCCA is advising residents along Kettle Creek to monitor conditions, move property away from low-lying areas, and ensure storm drains are clear.
At this time, Lake Erie water levels and wind conditions are not expected to cause a storm surge in Port Stanley.
This Watershed Conditions Statement—Flood Outlook remains in effect until Friday, April 4, at 8:30 a.m.
