During a media briefing Thursday morning, Dr. Ninh Tran the region’s medical officer of health advised nearly half of the province’s measles cases are in the Southwestern Public Health coverage area.
As of now, 228 individuals have been infected, with most cases involving unvaccinated children.
Of that total, 19 involve hospitalizations.
There have been 470 measles cases in Ontario since an outbreak began last October.
Twenty-eight new cases have been reported in the health unit’s coverage area in the past week.
