Fanshawe College is once again welcoming prospective students to explore its St. Thomas-Elgin Regional Campus at the Spring Open House coming up Saturday, March 29th.
In doing so, myFM and has teamed up with our local college to highlight some of the programs available.
While speaking with Bob Campbell, Coordinator of the Renewable Energies Technician program, he explained the two-year co-op program provides hands-on training, focusing on the design and installation of renewable energy solutions such as solar energy, wind turbines, biomass energy and geothermal energy systems.
In terms of what students can expect from this course, Campbell says “prepare to get your hands dirty.”
While possibilities are endless, especially as the industry advances, graduates often pursue careers as solar panel installers, wind turbine technicians, or renewable energy specialists.
The program includes four academic terms and two co-op placements over 60-weeks, offering students valuable industry and job experience.
And Fanshawe’s smaller class sizes at the St. Thomas-Elgin Regional Campus, adds to this personalized learning environment they’ve created. Campbell also highlighted the program’s broad curriculum compared to other colleges.
During the open house next Saturday, Campbell explains that visitors will have the chance to tour their lab, view hands-on demonstrations, and meet some faculty.
Campbell encourages prospective students to bring their questions and explore what the program has to offer, both in terms of academics and helping to create a more sustainable future.
The Fanshawe College Open House runs March 29th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Thomas-Elgin Regional Campus.
