The Canadian Cancer Society’s Wheels of Hope program is looking for volunteer drivers to help cancer patients get to their life-saving treatments.
Many patients are unable to drive themselves home after treatment, and without a ride, some choose to miss their appointments.
Mark Kahan with Wheels of Hope tells us its a rewarding way to volunteer.
He adds that volunteer drivers provide a crucial service, supporting local families and patients—sometimes making daily trips for treatment.
The program is flexible—volunteers can choose when and where they drive, with no long-term commitment required.
There is a real need for drivers right now in Ontario and Kahan highlighted and the surrounding region specifically.
Drivers must have a valid license, a smoke-free vehicle, and be willing to undergo a background check.
Wheels of Hope ensures volunteers are reimbursed for mileage or alternatively they can receive a tax receipt.
