
Families in St. Thomas and Elgin County have plenty of ways to make the most of March Break next week, with countless events and activities happening across the region.
From hands-on workshops and outdoor adventures to theater performances and camps, there’s something for kids of all ages — and parents too.
Whether you’re looking to spark imagination, burn off energy, or just create lasting memories, local organizations and venues are ready for a jam-packed week!
Local March Break Camps include…
Port Stanley Festival Theatre’s Youth Theatre Camp runs March 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those 8 to 11-years-old.
Spring Break with STEAM runs March 10-14th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for those 7 to 12-years-old.
The City of St. Thomas is once again hosting March Break Camp each weekday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for those 4 to 12-years-old.
Free/Public Skates
St. Thomas Mayor Joe Preston has sponsored a Free Skate at the Joe Thornton Community Centre on Monday, March 10th from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Real estate professionals, Randi Carey and Allison Thiessen have sponsored a free skate on Thursday from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. Then on Friday, March 14th, skate for free from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m. thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion.
Sponsored Free Skates are taking place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Bo Horvat Community Centre, March 10-15. Learn more here.
The Belmont Arena has a public skate taking place on Wednesday, March 12th from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with another taking place Thursday, March 13th from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Port Stanley Arena. More details can be found here.
Events
Port Stanley Festival Theatre welcomes Emilio’s A Million Chameleons to the stage on March 12th at 1 p.m. Created by internationally-celebrated puppeteer Adam Francis Proulx, this vibrant and interactive puppet show combines music, magic, and circus-style fun, making it an engaging experience for all ages.
March Break Activities at Backus-Page House Museum run Tuesday, March 11th to 14th, including Victorian Bread Making, the Escape the Museum Scavenger Hunt and more.
Canadale Nurseries will be holding their March Break Kids Club!
The Springwater Maple Syrup Festival runs March 8th to 16th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Drop-in Activities
The Ignite Youth Centre will be offering drop-in activities for those between the ages of 10 and 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. daily.
Family Flowers is hosting Kid’s Week March 10-15th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, geared to all the junior plant parents and young gardeners. Stop by anytime next week – no registration required!
March Break Fun at the Elgin Centre runs each weekday from 10 a.m. to noon. On Monday, they’ll make Paper Cup Racers, Tuesday- Fish Bowl Cat Craft, Wednesday- Firefly Craft, Thursday- Whirly Gig Craft and Friday- Moving Caterpillars. Join the fun near Coles Bookstore!
Galaxy Cinemas in St. Thomas has a number of showtimes taking place throughout March Break, including matinees beginning as early as 11 a.m.
You can try your hand at bowling by visiting Heritage Lanes in St. Thomas or Cy’s Lanes & Lounge in the Town of Aylmer.
Take advantage of the amazing galleries, libraries and museums we have across the county. Stop into the St. Thomas-Elgin Public Art Centre, take in the exhibits at the Elgin County Heritage Centre or find a good book or program at the St. Thomas or Elgin County libraries.
Looking to get outside? You can take advantage of the amazing parks and trails throughout St. Thomas and Elgin County. Visit Canada’s first and only Elevated Park right here in St. Thomas, take a stroll through the beautiful Springwater Forest just outside Aylmer, stop by a local play ground or even plan a game of pickup with some friends.
