As the dust settles on this early provincial election, Liberal candidate for Elgin-Middlesex-London, Doug Mactavish is reflecting on his campaign experience, one that he describes as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
He finished as the official runner-up in the riding behind PC candidate Rob Flack, having received just over 24% of the vote in his first time running.
Despite not clinching victory, Mactavish remains proud of the platform he represented. He emphasized his commitment to advocating for vulnerable populations, with particular passion for repealing Bill 7 and improving senior care in Ontario.
The campaign trail brought Mactavish closer to his community, turning February into a month he’ll never forget.
While his first political run is over, Mactavish remains hopeful and grateful. For him, the opportunity to amplify the voices of his community and stand up for what he believes in was a victory in itself.
