
You can join members of the St. Thomas Police Service this Tuesday as they get “Freezin’ For A Reason” in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
The annual St. Thomas Polar Plunge returns to Railway City Brewing from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., with registration opening at 3:30.
Hosted annually by the Law Enforcement Torch Run, this event aims to raise funds to support Special Olympics programming across the province, ensuring our athletes have access to sports and training that’s geared towards their needs.
And members of the St. Thomas Police Service are so close to reaching their donation goal shares Inspector Kim Manuel.
At this time, they sit at just over 80% with $4,116 raised.
For those unfamiliar with the Polar Plunge, participants will making the leap into a tank of freezing cold water in support of the cause. As a seasoned professional at this point, Manuel breaks down what to expect.
Local businesses and community groups are encouraged to participate, with organizers welcoming any friendly competition among teams to see who can raise the most funds. Manuel explains how you can get involved.
A special thanks was also extended to Railway City Brewing for hosting the event, Yarmouth Metal for providing the plunge tank, and the St. Thomas Fire Department for supplying the water and ensuring safety with on-site divers.
