For Progressive Conservative incumbent MPP Rob Flack, it was imperative that Premier Doug Ford called an early election to deal with the threat of tariffs.
myFM spoke with Flack to elaborate on the trip to the polls on Feb. 27.
Flack stressed tariffs would be punitive for both sides of the equation and added, “It just does not make any common sense.”
We spoke with Flack about taking his party’s message door to door in the riding.
Of utmost importance, pointed out Flack – growing and protecting Ontario’s economy.
Flack stressed he is taking nothing for granted during this whirlwind campaign and added, “I’m going to earn it one voter at a time.”
For Flack, the announcement of Volkswagen locating its EV battery gigafactory in St. Thomas was outstanding news.
But what the St. Thomas area also needs is supporting infrastructure like roads, schools and healthcare, including a new hospital.
Flack stressed people want to see continued investment in healthcare and added , “We’re going to make sure everyone has a family doctor in the next four years.”
In addition is the need to invest in new and aging infrastructure.
Pointing to housing, Flack praised the efforts of the City of St. Thomas as “a model example.”
And it is critical, stressed Flack, to maintain that manufacturing momentum, particularly in SW Ontario.
myFM will be profiling all seven candidates running in Elgin-Middlesex-London.
