A 61-year-old St. Thomas resident is facing charges after an incident on the city’s north side Wednesday evening.
Police were called to check on an individual’s well-being around 5:45 p.m. following an argument between spouses. Upon arrival, officers found both parties calm and learned the dispute had been verbal.
As one individual gathered belongings to leave for the evening, the situation escalated. Police say the accused became increasingly agitated, threatened officers, and ultimately assaulted one of them.
The 61-year-old was arrested and charged with one count of assaulting a peace officer and later released on an undertaking with a future court date.
No injuries were reported in connection with the assault.
