The City of St. Thomas and Elgin County Health Recruitment Partnership have awarded $1,000 scholarships to seven local medical students pursuing careers in family medicine.
Recipients include Abigaile Beamish, Ashlyn Hersey, Brandon Brower, Cole Gordon, Katharine Monteith, Patrick Acres, and Patrick Sharman.
The awards were presented at the “Home for the Holidays” event on December 27, 2024, at Wayside Restaurant in Talbotville. The event brought together students, families, dignitaries, and Health Recruitment Partnership (HRP) members to celebrate their achievements.
The HRP, active for over a decade, works to recruit and retain family doctors in St. Thomas-Elgin. Led by a committee of local officials, recruiters, and medical professionals, the partnership sponsors initiatives like recruitment fairs, physician placements, and community engagement.
