Two West Elgin residents face drug trafficking and firearms-related charges after a drug bust in that municipality.
Various OPP agencies were involved in the search warrant executed on Wednesday including the Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the OPP, Elgin OPP Crime Unit, the Oxford-Brant CSCU, OPP West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Canine Unit, and Emergency Response Team.
A 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old female were arrested and remanded into custody pending a court appearance Friday in St. Thomas.
A publication ban has been issued and further information will not be released.
The male has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
The female has been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Oxycodone
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
