A pair of local Christmas charities are the recipients of a substantial gift from Jackpot City and the St.Thomas Charitable Gaming Association.
Christmas Care and the Christmas Shoppe are splitting the $40,150 donation.
At the presentation last week, Sean Ross, Charity Coordinator with the association noted it is another example of charitable gaming supporting our community in a big way.
Grace Cafe, Hospice of Elgin and Valora Place have all benefitted in the past with donations from the association.
Although the St.Thomas Charitable Gaming Association won’t have an exact total until early next month on money raised this year, it will be over $3 million.
Last year, over 1,000 volunteers across more than 90 charities came together to raise almost $3.2 million.
And as Ross notes, all that money goes right back into the community, at a time when it is desperately needed.
When you play at Jackpot Time in St. Thomas, it really is the community that wins.
And beginning early in the new year, there will be over 90 local charities and not-for-profits that will benefit from charitable gaming.
Ross advises the donations are a source of stable on-going funding for the groups.
He adds, “Dozens of local charities that aren’t involved in charitable gaming are benefitting from the number of service clubs involved in the St. Thomas Gaming Association.
