If you were out and about doing some shopping this past weekend, you may have noticed those big red kettles have returned to local businesses.
That’s because the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign officially kicked off in the city on Friday- running all the way through Christmas Eve.
As their only fundraiser of the year, this six-week campaign is crucial for the work they do shared Jon Savage, Executive Director of The Salvation Army St. Thomas Church & Community Ministries.
While speaking with Community Outreach Coordinator, Stephanie Parker following the launch, she stressed that all the money raised during the campaign remains local in order to operate their youth, community and outreach programs.
Adding that while donations are so important for the annual fundraiser, the need for volunteers is just as great at this time of year.
As Parker mentioned, those interested in signing up for a volunteer time slot can reach out to the Salvation Army directly at 519-631-6202 ext. 4.
