The reality of climate change is about to impact when you can park on city streets.
Normally, winter overnight parking restrictions would come into effect Nov. 15 and continue until March 15.
But in recent years, the first significant snowfall of the the season has not been recorded until some time in December.
As a result, the parking restrictions this year will come into effect Dec. 1 and remain in place until March 15.
Mayor Joe Preston advised, for this winter, it is a bit of a pilot project.
Preston cautioned, if you insist on parking on the street – especially during a heavy snowfall – expect to be digging a lot of the white stuff away from your car.
The city will suspend the enforcement on Dec. 25 and 26 as well as Jan. 1 of each year.
