A day after Elgin-Middlesex-London MP Karen Vecchio announced she will not seek re-election in the next federal vote, we have the first hopeful looking to carry the Conservative banner.
Former London radio broadcaster, managing editor of the True North media outlet and author Andrew Lawton announced Wednesday his intention to seek the nomination.
Lawton ran provincially in 2018 in London West and lost by 15,000 votes to the NDP’s Peggy Sattler.
On social media, Lawton advised quote – “I’ve been fighting for freedom and conservative values my whole career. Now, I want to take that fight to Ottawa. Today, I’m launching my campaign to become the Conservative member of Parliament for Elgin—St. Thomas—London South.”
According to his website, Lawton’s priorities include- Stand up for your freedom and fight censorship, Axe the tax and get government spending under control, Defund the CBC and stand up to the elites, among others.
