Environment Canada has issued both a Heat Warning and Severe Thunderstorm Watch for St. Thomas and Elgin County today.
They note that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail this morning.
Thunderstorms this morning have developed over southwestern Ontario and are tracking east over the area. Thunderstorm development is possible throughout the day after the round of thunderstorms this morning.
As far as the heat, daytime maximum temperatures are expected to be near 29 degrees with humidex values near 40. There will be little relief at night as minimum temperatures are expected to be near 20 degrees.
A cooler airmass is expected to arrive Tuesday.
Stay tuned for any updates that may arise as a result of the severe weather.
