A Woodstock man has been charged with impaired driving after being found unconscious in his vehicle – running at the time – with a three-year-old child also present.
Elgin OPP responded to the vehicle last Friday morning (June 7) on Sparta Line, east of Centennial Road and suspected the driver was intoxicated.
He was taken for testing by St. Thomas Police at which point he assaulted a city police officer and refused to provide a breath sample.
Justin Davis, 25, was charged by Elgin OPP with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Failure or refusal to comply with demand
He was charged for an additional offence by St. Thomas Police.
His licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded.
He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on July 16.
The Children’s Aid Society of Oxford County was contacted and arrangements made to have a family member pick up the child.
